This showy, fragrant perennial wildflower is found in various forms all over the North American continent. A favorite healing plant of numerous indigenous communities, Monarda also served as common replacement drink for Chinese tea amongst colonial New Englanders. It has strong anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and relaxant nervine properties. Like other members of the mint family, it cues in on the digestive system. Also good as a mouth wash, stress reliever, and tonic for the female reproductive system.
